Lawn Care & Fertilization (Weed Control)

Imagine a lush, green lawn that is the envy of your neighbors. A lawn that is soft and inviting, perfect for playing games or relaxing on a summer day. With Gibbs Lawn Care’s comprehensive lawn care services, we provide everything from fertilization and weed control to insect control. Our expert team is here to eliminate them and keep them from coming back!
- Fertilization – Our custom-tailored fertilization program starts with a soil test. This gives us a good baseline to see what your lawn really needs. We then use this information to create a fertilizer program that is specific to your lawn’s needs. A regular fertilization program is essential to maintaining turf health. You can rest assured that your lawn is getting the nutrients it needs to thrive.
- Weed Control – Gibbs Lawn Care’s weed control program is often combined with our fertilization program to prevent weeds before they even start. Our ultimate goal is to create a lush, healthy lawn that reduces the need for harmful pesticides, only treating weeds on an “as needed” basis. We utilize only the best, eco-friendly products to ensure a safe environment for your family and pets.
- Insect Control – Insects like grubs can cause irreparable damage to your lawn by feeding on the root system. This can lead to brown patches, thinning grass, and even dead spots. With the preventative applications provided by Gibbs Lawn Care, you can stop these insects from gaining a foothold in your lawn in the first place.
- Fungus Control – The hot, humid weather of summer can be tough on your lawn. High humidity and afternoon thunderstorms create the perfect environment for fungus to thrive. This can wreak havoc on an already stressed lawn from high heat. Gibbs Lawn Care’s proactive lawn maintenance program prevents fungal infections before they take control.

General Watering Instructions
🌿 Tall Fescue Turf Watering Guide
Tall fescue is known for its deep root system and drought tolerance, but proper watering is still essential to maintain its health and appearance.
🕒 General Watering Frequency
- Spring & Fall (cooler months): Water 1 time per week, providing about 1 inch of water total (rain + irrigation).
- Summer (hot/dry months): Water 2 times per week, providing 1–1.5 inches total per week, depending on heat and drought.
📏 How Much Water?
- Aim for 1–1.5 inches per week, split over 1–2 waterings.
- To measure: Place a shallow container (like a tuna can) on the lawn during watering and measure the depth of water collected.
🌅 Best Time to Water
- Early morning (between 4 AM – 9 AM) is ideal.
- Avoid evening watering — it increases the risk of fungal diseases due to prolonged moisture on blades.
💧 Watering Depth
- Ensure water soaks to a depth of 4–6 inches to encourage deep root growth.
- Check soil moisture by probing with a screwdriver or soil probe; it should penetrate easily when adequately moist.
⚠️ Signs You Need to Water
- Look for these drought stress indicators:
- Grass turns bluish-gray.
- Footprints or mower tracks remain visible.
- Grass blades curl or wilt.
When you see these signs, water deeply the next morning.
